SAP DB Sample Database
(rpm Package)

Here you will find explanations on how to create and test your own SAP DB sample database.

First download and install the relevant software packages.

With the installation of the package sapdb-testdb-*.rpm, the sample database has been created. It has only some dynamic parameters and a small footprint. You can change the database configuration now according to your interest and experience.

Installation Path

The database software is installed in the directories /opt/sapdb/<independent_program_path> and /opt/sapdb/<dependent_path>.
The required service ports are registered in /etc/services.


What has Been set up

  • The OS-user named sapdb with password sapdb has been created
  • The sample database instance TST74 has been created and is ONLINE.
    It has one log volume and one data volume.
  • The following database users have been preconfigured:

    User Name User Password Description
    DBM DBM Identification for monitoring the database and
    backup functions, even in the operational mode ADMIN .
    DBA DBA Sets up the system, owns the system tables,
    defines users and other administrators
    TEST TEST Normal user of the database functions
    DOMAIN DOMAIN Owner of the catalog tables
