Using the Database Manager GUI: Examples

Creating a Backup Medium

Before you can start a backup, you must create a backup medium in the Database Manager GUI.
Choose Instance -> Configuration -> Backup Medium.

Now define the backup medium.

The new backup medium appears in the list of available backup media.

Performing a Complete Data Backup

Once the appropriate backup medium is available, you can perform a complete data backup.
Choose Instance -> Backup -> Complete Data.

Select the medium for the backup, and choose CompleteData -> Start to start the backup operation.

The content of all data volumes has been backed up. You get the message Backup completed.

Activating the Automatic Log Backup

For log backups, we recommend that you activate the automatic log backup.
Choose Instance -> Backup -> AutoLog on.

Select a medium and choose Autolog On.
The automatic log backup is ON and remains activated until you deactivate it again by choosing Instance -> Backup -> AutoLog off, even if you restart the database instance meanwhile.

Adding a Data Volume

You can add a data volume to the data area of a running database.
Choose Instance -> Configuration -> Data Volumes.

Select a proposed new data volume and choose Data Volumes -> Edit to define the values of the volume parameters. Then choose OK.

The new data volume has been created. Therefore, the data area has increased and the percentage of the data filling level has decreased.
